That time someone told me to use isopropyl alcohol on a disc tray without specifying the percentage

A guy in a GameStop line said 70% would work fine, so I soaked a cloth and wiped down my PS4 drive, and now the rubber belt is all dried out and the disc won't eject - has anyone else wrecked a console following bad advice from a random stranger?

Bad advice" is right but a quick Google before dunking your console would have saved you.

Ha, guilty as charged! I'm the queen of "well that was a dumb idea" moments. Literally last week I was trying to fix my toaster with a butter knife while it was still plugged in. Thought I'd save time. Spoiler: I did not. YouTube saved me from a much worse outcome though. So yeah, quick search before doing something stupid is solid life advice.
