Tbh I bought a $30 'universal' power supply on Amazon that fried my original Xbox

Honestly I should have just waited and spent the extra cash on a proper OEM part, has anyone found a good source for those old power bricks?

Very expensive paperweight" seems a bit much. Those old consoles are pretty tough inside. It might just be the power port that got zapped, which is a cheap fix.

What brand was the cheap power supply you bought? I've seen a few of those sketchy ones with no real company name, just random letters. It's a huge gamble with old consoles. Did you check if the original Xbox still turns on at all after that, or is it totally dead?

My cheap power supply had a brand name that looked like someone mashed a keyboard. Should have known it was a bad sign when the box smelled like burnt plastic. My Xbox is now a very expensive paperweight, lesson learned the hard way. I guess I'm part of the reason they put those "do not eat" warnings on stuff.
