My fix for a console with no power was way easier than expected

I almost threw out my console because it would not turn on at all. I spent hours looking at the internal parts and thought something major was wrong. Then I remembered to inspect the power adapter more closely. Inside the plug, I found a small fuse that had blown. Replacing it with a cheap fuse from the store made the console work again. Now I always tell people to check the power supply first before doing anything else.

It's crazy how often the easy fix is the last thing we check. We assume the worst and dive into the hard stuff right away. Checking the simple things first, like a fuse or plug, usually solves it.

People forget that power adapters are their own little machines with parts that fail. That fuse is there for a reason, usually a power surge or a bad outlet. It's a cheap part designed to die so the expensive console doesn't. Makes you wonder how many working consoles got trashed over a two dollar piece of wire.

Yeah, oliver523 is right about skipping the easy stuff, but we also assume everyone knows to check the power supply. I've had to tell a friend to check if their console was even plugged in, which felt silly but they just didn't think of it. The lesson isn't just to check simple things first, but to never assume the other person has already done the simple things.
