I was cleaning my PS4 with a vacuum for years before a tech at a local shop in Boise told me that can cause static damage.

What's the safest way to get dust out of the vents on a console that's a few years old?

Read a tech article that said power strips can wear out over time... the surge protection just stops working. Could explain why some consoles die and others are fine. Makes you wonder about the age of the outlet you're using.
