Fixed my PS4 with a penny and a prayer last night

I was getting the blue light of death on my old PS4 after moving it to a different room. Opened it up and saw the thermal paste was totally dried out, like dust. Cleaned it, added new paste, and wedged a penny under the power supply where it was sagging. System booted right up and ran for 3 hours without a hitch. Anyone else had luck with weird ghetto fixes like that?

Can't believe you put a penny in there. That sounds like something I'd try after three energy drinks at 2am. I've done some janky stuff like using a paperclip to short the power button on an old Xbox, but a coin inside a PS4 is next level. Props to you for getting it working though.

ross.river that paperclip trick on the Xbox brings back memories, I did the same thing with a bent staple once. The penny thing just made sense at the time because the original bracket snapped and I needed something thin and conductive that wouldn't slide around. Took a couple tries to get it positioned right but once it was sitting in there flat it worked like a charm for months. Janky fixes are the best kind of fixes when you're broke and need your console running by Friday night.
