Vent: Lost my Airbnb in Porto for 3 nights, ended up sleeping in a hostel lobby

I was 2 weeks into a 6 month Europe run. Landed in Porto at 11 PM. Checked my phone, host cancelled the booking. Said the place flooded. Refund came in but no place to stay on a festival weekend. Everything under $80 was gone. I grabbed a bunk at a hostel, but the front desk messed up my reservation. Sat in the lobby with my bag until 6 AM. Next day I found a tiny studio in Matosinhos for $55 a night. It worked out, but that first night made me rethink my whole setup. Has anyone else had a last minute cancellation ruin their schedule? How do you handle it, backup plans or just wing it?

Ugh, that sucks! Always screenshot your booking and call the host directly before landing.
