TIL that a $20 local SIM card is better than any global plan I've tried
I was in Medellin last month and my usual global eSIM was crawling, barely loading a map. A guy at my hostel told me to just get a Claro SIM from a corner store, so I did. I paid about 20 bucks for a month of data and my speed went from useless to perfect overnight. Has anyone else found that ditching the fancy travel plans for a local option is the only real fix?

Yeah, it's the only way to go. I got burned by a big name global plan in Japan, paying a fortune for data that dropped constantly. Switched to a local SIM at the airport and it was like night and day, full bars everywhere. Those international plans are a total scam for the speeds they give you. I'll never bother with them again.
