My card got declined in a rural town, and now I never travel without backup cash
I was stuck in a small village in Vietnam when my only credit card suddenly didn't work. The local ATM was broken, and I had no way to pay for my hostel that night. I had to ask another nomad for help, which felt really awkward. After that, I learned to always keep some emergency cash in a few key currencies. I also started bringing a second card from a different bank just in case. This has helped me avoid trouble in places with bad internet or banking systems. What do you do to make sure your money is safe when you're moving around?

That's overcomplicating things for rare problems. Carrying multiple currencies just adds more things to lose or get stolen. A single good travel card with proper backups on your phone works fine.

Absolutely! I had my main card frozen once because the bank thought a small lunch purchase was "suspicious activity." I was just stuck there, you know? A twenty in my wallet saved me from a really awkward situation. Relying only on tech feels like asking for trouble when you need a coffee or a bus ticket fast. Why not have both options covered?
