Everyone says you need a drawing tablet for good line work, but my mouse-only piece just got picked for a local show.
I kept hearing that you can't get clean, expressive lines without a tablet and pressure sensitivity. For months, I felt stuck because I couldn't afford one. Last week, I decided to just use my basic mouse in Krita and cranked the stabilizer up to 15. The lines came out way smoother than I expected, and I built the whole piece with basic shapes. The gallery in Portland chose it for their 'New Digital' exhibit next month. Has anyone else made a full piece with just a mouse and been happy with it?

Portland's a great city for that kind of show, congrats. I'm stuck using a trackpad on my old laptop for everything. When you cranked the stabilizer to 15 in Krita, did you find it made the lines feel laggy or disconnected from your hand movement? I always fight with that setting trying to find a balance.

Honestly @tara_gonzalez20, I find a mouse gives me more direct control than a laggy stabilizer ever could.

Oh man, you nailed it. I spent a year thinking I needed a $300 tablet just to get smooth lines on commissions. Finally tried the stabilizer trick in Krita at like 12 or 13 and it changed everything. Sure, there's a tiny lag but I got used to it after a few hours. Ended up doing a whole 50 hour piece for a client that way, mouse only. Nobody could tell the difference when I showed them. Tools are just tools, man.
