A crash wiped my digital portfolio right before a big showcase
I was finalizing my entries for a community digital art event. My software crashed and corrupted the project files. I didn't have backups because I thought it was safe. Now I'm scrambling to recreate everything from scratch. Learn from my error and always save multiple versions.

When you said "I did the exact same thing," it reminded me of a tech article I read. They said data loss is basically guaranteed if you don't backup right. The writer pushed the 3-2-1 rule: keep three copies, on two different devices, with one offsite. I even heard about a photographer who lost shots because his cloud service had a glitch, so you can't trust just one method.

Ugh "I thought it was safe" hits so hard lol. I did the exact same thing with my whole photo archive a few years back. My external drive just died out of nowhere and I lost like two years of pictures. The feeling is the worst, just this horrible pit in your stomach. Now I'm crazy about having copies in two places minimum. It really does take losing everything once to learn.
