inQuestion about the date mix-up on our town's new historical plaque
How do these errors slip through the cracks? I totally get your frustration, our library's memorial stone had the wrong war date carved into it. They used 1915 instead of 1914 for World War One, and it stood for months before anyone noticed. It makes you wonder who checks these projects before they are set in stone. We had to raise money privately to have it fixed, which was a whole other hassle.

inOur reading club's moral debate spilled into personal attacks.
But @mila_bell, getting that worked up over fiction... really?

inCaught my mom having a full conversation with her fern last night
Ever think the plant is just caught in the middle? Stories like yours and daniel511's show it's usually the people, not the leaves, making things weird. Sounds like your family just needed something neutral to argue through.

inMy budget improved after I quit couponing entirely
That sea salt story hits home... my kitchen has a drawer of unused gadgets from Black Friday sales. It's not just coupons, it's any time something is marketed as a deal. Like when stores have 'limit 3 per customer' signs, I feel pressured to grab extras. We end up with stuff we don't need because the sale makes it feel urgent. It's a cycle that's hard to break.

inA crash wiped my digital portfolio right before a big showcase
Ugh "I thought it was safe" hits so hard lol. I did the exact same thing with my whole photo archive a few years back. My external drive just died out of nowhere and I lost like two years of pictures. The feeling is the worst, just this horrible pit in your stomach. Now I'm crazy about having copies in two places minimum. It really does take losing everything once to learn.
