Vent: My uncle, a retired heavy equipment guy, told me I was overthinking a Paccar MX-13 oil leak

He just said, 'Kid, you're chasing ghosts, it's always the rear main seal on those after 200k miles.' Has anyone else had an old-timer drop a line that saved you a ton of diagnostic time?

Yeah, chasing ghosts is a perfect way to put it. That rear main seal advice is solid, saved me a whole weekend once. Old guys just know where the gremlins hide.

Man, I feel this. My own personal ghost story was me tearing apart a whole fuel system because it was running rough. My dad walks by, listens for like two seconds, and goes "sounds like a bad tank of gas, dummy." He was right. I could have saved myself a whole day of pain just by draining it first. Sometimes you get so deep in the weeds you forget the simple stuff.
