Twin turbo failure forced me to pick between rebuild and replace

Last Tuesday my 2015 Freightliner lost boost on I-80 outside of Cheyenne, and after pulling the manifold I found the passenger side turbo scored beyond saving. I had to choose between a $3,800 rebuild kit or a $6,200 drop-in unit, and I went with the rebuild because the housing looked solid. Now it's back together and making full boost at 38 psi, but I'm second guessing if the core will last 100k miles like the shop promised, has anyone else had a rebuild fail sooner than expected?

Man, I feel you on that. My old Pete threw a rod bearing at 412k and I did the same dance, went with the rebuild kit and it lasted about 70k before I started seeing oil smoke again. Shop said the core was fine too, but those little hairline cracks in the housing always come back to bite you lol.
