Shoutout to the old timer who showed me the soapy water trick for finding boost leaks
I was chasing a power loss on a 6.7 Powerstroke and sprayed soapy water on the intercooler pipes instead of using my smoke machine. Found three tiny bubbles at a boot clamp I would have missed. What other old school tricks do you guys use for stuff like this?

soapy water trick" is fine but a smoke machine is way more thorough.

You're not wrong about the smoke machine being the better tool for the job. It just finds every single tiny leak the soapy water might miss, especially in tricky spots. I learned that the hard way after chasing a phantom leak for a weekend. Sometimes the fancy gear really is worth the hassle.

Ugh, preach. @patricia905 is totally right about the time you save. That phantom leak hunt sounds like a nightmare. The smoke machine just ends the guesswork.
