Hot take: I used to think twin turbos were just for show until I rebuilt one

I've been working on fleet trucks at a shop outside Omaha for about 7 years and always rolled my eyes at guys adding twin turbo setups to their pickups. Figured it was just for the sound or to impress people at truck meets. Then last month I had to rebuild a BorgWarner S300 on a 6.7 Cummins that actually had a real towing setup, and that thing pulled a 30,000 lb trailer up a 6% grade like it was nothing. Has anyone else changed their mind about a mod they thought was a gimmick?

30,000 pounds up a 6% grade sounds like the kind of pull that'd make me eat my words with a side of turbo whistle, maybe it's just me but that's no gimmick.

Start with a warm engine and a cool head. Keep your RPMs up around 2600, don't let it lug. Turbo will pull fine, just don't floor it from a dead stop.
