Picked between a $5 clearance blender and a $40 one at Goodwill, here's what happened
Last Saturday at the Goodwill on 5th in Austin, I stood there holding two blenders: a dusty $5 Oster with no lid and a $40 Ninja that looked brand new. I rolled the dice on the cheap one because I figured worst case I'm out five bucks, then spent 20 minutes scrubbing it and realized the motor was shot. Now I'm wondering if anyone else has gambled on a dirt cheap clearance find and actually won, or do you always pay up for the better brand even at thrift stores?
Heard a guy on a podcast say he never buys thrift store motors without plugging them in first, saved me from a bad deal last month. Five bucks stings less than forty though, so I get the gamble.
