Compared a Ridge wallet knockoff vs the real one, not even close

I bought a $15 Ridge style wallet off Amazon last month because I didn't want to drop $80 on the real thing. Within 2 weeks the elastic band started fraying and the carbon fiber finish peeled off on one corner. My buddy let me try his real Ridge for a day and the difference was HUGE. The real one feels solid, the cards don't slide around, and the money clip actually holds cash tight. I gave in and ordered the genuine one this morning after that cheap one gave me a pain in my back pocket sitting wrong. Anyone else learn this lesson the hard way or find a knockoff that actually holds up?

Honestly, your "pain in my back pocket" line hit way too close to home. I bought a similar cheap knockoff off Amazon for like $12, and the thing literally bent out of shape in under a week. The money clip on mine popped off and sent my cards flying in a Starbucks line, which was super embarrassing. Tbh, I went for the real Ridge after that and haven't regretted a cent of it. Ngl, sometimes you just gotta admit the original is way better built, even if it hurts the wallet at first.

$12? Dang, you practically got off easy compared to some of the horror stories I've seen. My buddy's knockoff money clip went flying off mid-air at a Taco Bell drive-thru, cards scattered everywhere, and the cashier just stared at him like he was juggling. I mean, it's funny in hindsight but probably not when you're trying to grab your change with a line of cars behind you. But yeah, sometimes you gotta learn the hard way that paying a bit more saves you from looking like a fool in public. At least now you've got a wallet that won't spontaneously combust on you.
