Switched from Gateron Yellows to Cherry MX Blacks and my typing sound went from hollow thock to solid clack in about 2 days.

I swapped them on my aluminum case board last weekend and the deeper housing on the Cherries killed that hollow echo I hated, has anyone else noticed the same difference between those two switch families?

Tofu60 sounded like a tin can" is exactly what I've been telling people, that board is notorious for it. I actually read a comparison piece on Deskthority that broke down how Gateron Yellows have that loose stem wobble that bounces around in an aluminum case, (creates that hollow reverb) while Cherry Blacks have tighter tolerances so the sound stays controlled and focused. @the_olivia, your buddy probably would've fixed it faster if he lubed the springs on those gat blacks, I did that on my last build and it killed the last bit of ping. The deeper housing on the Cherries is a big part of it too, the plastic has a different density that just absorbs more of the high end. I switched from Kailh Box switches to Cherry MX Browns on my plastic board once and got a similar effect, way less of that plasticy rattle.

Did your friend's aluminum case get the same deep echo kill? My buddy swapped Gaterons into a tofu60 and it sounded like a tin can for weeks. He finally threw in some gat ink blacks and it instantly went from hollow trash to a solid thump.
