I just read that a single late payment can drop your score by over 100 points
I was looking at a report from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau yesterday. It said a payment that's 30 days late can sometimes cause a credit score drop of 100 points or more, even if you have a good history. I always knew it was bad, but I thought maybe 30 or 40 points. Seeing that actual number really shocked me. It makes me way more careful about my payment dates now. Has anyone actually seen their score take a hit that big from one mistake?

I used to think it was just a small drop too. That report really opened my eyes about how serious it is. It's definitely made me set up automatic payments for everything.

Yeah, I always figured it was a bad hit but maybe like 50 points tops. Seeing that real number from the CFPB report was a total wake up call. It feels so harsh for one slip up when you've paid on time for years. Makes you wonder why the system has to be that punishing, you know? I set calendar alerts for everything now because that risk is just too high.
