My writing prompt notebook got soaked at a Portland coffee shop

I was at a place called Stumptown last week, working on a sci-fi prompt about sentient rain. My iced coffee tipped over and soaked the whole notebook. I mean, 47 pages of ideas just turned into a blurry mess. I spent the next hour trying to dry it with the hand dryer in the bathroom, but most of it was just gone. Has anyone else had a physical disaster with their writing notes? What did you do to save them, or did you just have to start over?

Oh man, that's a special kind of heartbreak... watching your own words just melt away. My old laptop completely died once, taking a whole folder of half-finished song lyrics with it. The tech guy just shook his head and said the drive was toast. I tried to rewrite a few from memory, but they never felt the same... the original spark was just gone in that digital void.

That is just the worst feeling, watching your hard work literally dissolve! I had a whole folder of tax prep notes for a client get caught in a sudden downpour last spring. The ink ran so bad it looked like abstract art. Tried the hair dryer trick too, but some pages were just too far gone. Starting over felt awful, but sometimes you just have to take a deep breath and begin again with what you can remember. Really hope some of your rain story ideas come back to you!
