Hit 37 volunteer carrots from one compost pile, all twisted like tiny orange pretzels

I pulled 37 carrots out of the pile I forgot to turn since May and every single one looks like a stressed-out phone cord, but they taste sweeter than the straight ones from the store, so is this just how carrots win or did I accidentally invent a new variety?

Forget the carrots, bet that pile smells like a compost smoothie though.
