Showerthought: The shift from two-way radios to tablets for load charts

On my last big job in Houston, we went from yelling over crackly radios to confirm charts to having them on waterproof tablets in under two years. The company pushed it hard after a near-miss where a signal got crossed. Now I tap the screen, see the exact chart for my setup, and the load planner gets it instantly. But some of the older guys hate it, say it's too much tech and they trust the paper book more. What's your take, are we better off with the tablets or did we lose something?

Forget the paper vs tablet fight. The real loss is the shared radio channel where you'd overhear other crews and learn from their problems. Now everyone's in their own digital bubble.

My old foreman still has his radio on just for the weather band.
