Trade show in Dallas made me question the olaplex hype

Went to the big cosmetology expo in Dallas last month and watched three different educators push bond builders as a cure-all. I get that they help damaged hair, but I saw a demo where they slapped it on virgin hair and claimed it added strength. That just isn't true in my experience. I've been doing this for 12 years and a good protein treatment plus trim does the same job for half the price. Anyone else feel like the industry is leaning too hard on marketing gimmicks over basic technique?
