Finally stopped fighting my foils, tried the zigzag method on a whim

I spent 2 years wrestling with straight foil lines and always got patchy coverage on long hair, especially around the crown. A stylist in Dallas told me to angle the foils in a zigzag pattern and weave thinner sections, and my last 4 balayage clients have come out way more even. Has anyone else switched up their foiling pattern and seen a big difference, or is it all just technique in the end?
