Can we talk about foils failing after a color correction job?

I did a full color correction last Thursday and the foils kept slipping off the sections, took me 3 extra hours and the client asked if I was new. Is it better to re-clip every foil or just switch to balayage when the hair is super damaged, or has anyone dealt with this?

...and that's exactly what happened to my friend last month. She had this client with super bleached, gummy hair and the foils just would NOT grip. She tried re-clipping the same section three times and finally just ripped them all out and did a freehand balayage instead. Took her half the time and honestly looked better because the color blended into the damage anyway. She said she'll never fight the foil again on compromised hair, just switches techniques on the spot now.
