Update: My dad's small business is in a lawsuit with a big corp, and family dinners are all about legal strategy now.

Some folks say to leave work at the office (good luck with that), but others think business fights just blend into home life, so where do you stand?

During my dad's contract dispute with a supplier last year, we made a 'no shop talk' rule after 6 PM. We had a weekly meeting on Saturdays to hash out all the legal stuff over coffee. It saved our family meals from turning into strategy sessions. I mean, who wants to discuss lawsuits over mashed potatoes?

That's smart, @emmah42. Setting that hard stop time is key. We tried something similar when my partner was dealing with a tough client. We found putting our phones in a basket during dinner helped even more. It forced everyone to actually disconnect, not just stop talking about work. The Saturday meeting idea is a good one, it gives a set place to worry so you can relax the rest of the week.

Oh man, I tried that rule but kept failing. My family finally banned me from bringing any paperwork near the dinner table!
