Question about a document review software crash during a big case

Our firm was using CasePoint for a major discovery push on the Johnson vs. Acme Corp. matter, and the whole platform just froze up for two hours last Thursday. We had three paralegals stuck, and the clock was ticking on a production deadline. I had to call their support line and get them to manually restart our instance, which they said was a server overload issue in their Chicago data center. Has anyone else had a major tech fail like this right before a deadline, and what's your backup plan now?

That's brutal, man. Tech fails right before a deadline are the absolute worst. Our backup plan is to always have a local copy of the most critical files on a separate drive, not just in the cloud. We also split the team so everyone isn't dependent on one tool at the same time. It adds some manual work, but it beats being totally stuck. Never trusting a single platform again after something similar happened to us.

How many times do we have to learn this lesson the hard way? @the_logan, your team's plan is smart but it's sad we need that much extra work just to be safe. These platforms sell us on simplicity then leave us scrambling when they break. I've started treating every online tool like it could vanish any minute. It adds stress but at least my blood pressure stays lower than if I trusted them completely.

Honestly @seanh91, it's like we need a backup for our backup these days, which is just crazy to me.
