Overheard a paralegal at the courthouse cafe say they haven't touched a physical case file in over two years.

That's a wild way to run a law office.

And it's not just law offices either. I've seen doctors' offices do the same thing, scan everything and trash the paper. But here's what gets me about your old firm shredding originals. What about the signature pages? Are they scanning those too or just the main documents? Because I've seen too many cases where a scanned signature gets called into question. The whole "where's the original" argument still comes up in court sometimes, even if it's supposed to be digital now. Have you ever had to pull a physical document out of the trash because someone needed the wet signature?

You think that's wild, @michael_fisher55? It's just how things are now. My old firm scanned everything into the system and shredded the originals. You'd have three monitors just to look at a deposition and the evidence at the same time. It's faster to search a PDF than dig through a box, but man, it feels weird. Nothing beats the smell of old paper, you know?
