Just saw a case where the plaintiff's legal fees hit $2.3 million before the first hearing.

That number really hit home about how fast costs can spiral in discovery, even for what seemed like a straightforward contract dispute.

Honestly, could that be a sign they were over-lawyering from the start? Tbh a simple case shouldn't blow up like that.

My friend's contract dispute last year is a good example. Their lawyer added so many extra clauses it basically invited new arguments. I mean, sometimes making things too complicated just gives the other side more stuff to fight about.

But what if the other side made it messy on purpose? Sometimes simple cases get ugly fast.
