My uncle's furnace filter tip backfired hard after 3 winters
He swore by those cheap 1-inch fiberglass filters and said changing them monthly was a scam, so I ran that setup in my St. Louis house for 3 years. Last month the blower motor seized and the repair guy showed me the coil caked in dust, costing me $1,100 to fix. Was he just lucky with his own system, or is there a middle ground where cheaper filters work if you live somewhere less dusty?
