Pro tip: Always check the forecast before you start a pour, even if the sky looks clear.
I was finishing a patio in Denver and a surprise thunderstorm rolled in halfway through the pour. We had to scramble to cover the slab with plastic and it still got a little pitted. What's your go-to move when the weather turns bad on a job?

Scrap lumber can hold water and make a real mess, though.

Remember that guy who tried to use a big beach umbrella? He was doing a small walkway when it started to drizzle, figured he could just hold it over the spot. Wind caught it, turned it inside out, and launched it right into the wet concrete. Sometimes the quick fix makes a bigger mess.

Ugh, that's the worst! Do you keep a tarp roll on the truck at all times now? After a similar mess, I started stashing a few big ones and a bunch of those spring clamps. We got caught last month and threw a tarp over the forms, then weighed the edges down with scrap lumber. It wasn't pretty, but it saved the pour.
