Learned a trick from an old school finisher in Tampa
I was on a slab pour in Tampa last week. Real hot day, sun beating down. This old guy showed me to wet the subgrade before pouring. Kept the concrete from drying out too fast. No more hairline cracks on big flatwork. Anyone else use this method?

Yeah, I tried that once and ended up over-wetting the subgrade so bad it turned into a mud pit... had to wait half the day for it to dry back out before we could even pour. Talk about learning the hard way, haha. But when you get it right, it really does save you from those ugly cracks that show up a week later. Makes me wonder how many times I messed up before someone finally showed me the trick.
