Wasted $800 on a Kirby Morgan rebuild kit that didn't fit

Bought a rebuild kit for my KM 37 off a random website last spring. Thought I was saving a few bucks compared to the dive shop. Got it in the mail and the inflator valve was completely the wrong size. Tried to make it work for an hour before I gave up. Ended up having to buy the right parts from a shop in Houma for $950 anyway. Has anyone else had bad luck with aftermarket parts for Kirby Morgans?

Honestly, the "rebuild kit" probably wasn't OEM Kirby Morgan, which is why the parts were off.

Bought a "genuine" rebuild kit off eBay once and the exhaust tee was completely wrong.
