Heard a stat that 60% of diving accidents happen in less than 30 feet of water
I read that on the CDC website last night and it made me reconsider how seriously I take my shallow water safety checks.

Yeah that's wild, shallow water is where people get complacent for sure.

Getting complacent in shallow water" is exactly what happened to a guy I know last summer. He thought he could just walk out to the sandbar without paying attention to the current. I read somewhere that more drownings happen in shallow water than deep water because people let their guard down.
