Stood in a comic shop for 20 minutes just watching customers yesterday

I was at Dave's Comics on Broad Street picking up the new Ultimate Spider-Man and I got distracted watching this guy spend 45 minutes reorganizing a dollar bin by publisher. Then I noticed three other people doing the exact same ritual of pulling stacks, checking covers, and putting them back. Is there something about physical browsing that just makes us slow down and dig like we're hunting for treasure?

At Dave's, the trick is to go during a slow weekday afternoon when you can actually pull stacks without someone breathing down your neck. Always check the last few issues in each box too, people shove random keys in the back all the time.

Add to what you said about checking the back of the bins - that's solid advice. I've found more than a few hidden gems that way, like a first print of something nobody wanted back then. The whole slow browsing thing is about letting your brain switch into that hunting mode too. You can't rush it or you'll miss the good stuff, same way you can't speed through a record store and expect to find that rare pressing. Its like your eyes need time to adjust to the chaos before they can spot the weird cover or the cheap key issue. Plus there's something about the physical act of flipping through boxes that just feels right, like youre actually earning the find.
