Nostalgic for the days when comic book fandom felt more like a secret club
I was sorting through my old longboxes and found a membership card for a local comic book club from the 90s. Back then, being a fan meant seeking out niche shops and trading issues with friends, but now everything is mainstream and accessible online. Is the loss of that exclusive, community-driven experience a necessary trade-off for broader acceptance?

What made that exclusivity so valuable to you?

I always thought limited edition stuff was kind of silly. Then I got this early press of an album from a band I loved. Having that thing hardly anyone else did changed my whole view. It wasn't about being better than others, it was a deeper link to the music and the people who made it. That shared, rare thing created a real sense of belonging.
