Vent: The new cafe in Springfield has a 'coffee flight' that's just three tiny cups of the same blend

I was so excited to try that new spot on Maple Street, you know, the one with the big chalkboard menu. They had a 'flight' listed for $12, which sounded perfect for trying a few things. When it came out, it was three little ceramic cups, maybe two sips each. I asked the barista about the different beans, and she just said, 'Oh, it's all our house blend, just different temperatures.' I'm not kidding. It was literally the same coffee, poured hot, warm, and... I guess slightly less warm? It felt like a total gimmick (and a pretty expensive one for what you get). Has anyone else run into a 'flight' that was just a single coffee served three different ways? I'd love to hear about places that actually do it right with distinct roasts or brew methods.

A good flight should show you different flavors. I found a place that does one with a pour-over, a cold brew, and an espresso from three beans. It actually taught me what I liked.

Okay but that's three totally different ways to make coffee. How do you even compare the beans when the brewing method changes everything? The cold brew will be way less acidic than the pour-over, so is it the bean you like or just the smoother drink?

That's not a flight, that's just a coffee with commitment issues.
