I thought the 'learn to code in 24 hours' book my uncle gave me was total junk, but after forcing myself through the first 3 chapters, I actually built a simple website for my mom's bakery.
Has anyone else had a surprisingly good experience with a resource they initially wrote off as too basic or gimmicky?

Yeah but come on, it's a bakery website. That's like the "hello world" of real projects. I see what @claire_fisher41 is saying about just getting started, but let's not act like this is some huge win. Those books usually teach bad habits you'll just have to unlearn later. Feels like celebrating a participation trophy.

Learn to code in 24 hours" sounds like one of those infomercial scams. I totally get writing it off as junk. But hey, if it got you to actually build something that works, maybe the joke's on us for being too snobby about it. Sometimes the cheesy, simple stuff just gets you moving when the fancy textbooks don't.
