Heard a teacher say 'just start with Python' and now I'm not sure

I was at the local library in Portland and overheard a coding workshop instructor tell a group to always start with Python because it's easy. But I tried following a free tutorial on Codecademy for 2 weeks and got stuck on something called list comprehensions. It made me wonder if 'easy' is the same for everyone. Has anyone else picked a first language that just didn't click for them?

Oh man, @christopherwilliams, I totally get that... JavaScript just clicks for some people right away. The way you can mess around in the browser console and see stuff happen makes it feel more real. Other languages can seem so locked up behind setup and rules before you even start. Honestly, sticking with what makes sense to you first is the best move.
