Switched from weekly lawn mowing to a clover mix last spring

I used to mow my whole yard in Austin every Saturday, but after a water bill spike I planted microclover. It only needs a trim once a month, uses way less water, and the bees love it. Anyone else try a low-mow lawn alternative?

Absolutely, it makes all the difference. I spent last Saturday just puttering in the garden, no real plan, and it felt so good. Got a few flowers planted and cleaned off the patio. That kind of small win sets a nice tone for the whole week.

Yeah, that's the key right there. I used to try and pack my whole to-do list into Saturday morning and just felt wrecked by noon. Now I pick one small thing, like just cleaning out one kitchen drawer or watering the plants. Finishing it gives you that little boost to maybe do a bit more, but even if you don't, you still did something. It totally changes how you see the rest of your free time.
