Pro tip: I used to throw out all my food scraps until a composting workshop in Denver showed me how to turn them into garden soil in about 3 months.
Now my kitchen waste bin is basically empty and my plants are way happier, so has anyone else tried a specific compost method that actually works in a small backyard?

Turn them into garden soil in about 3 months" sounds way too optimistic. I tried a tumbler in my small yard and it was a smelly, fly-ridden mess for over six months that never really broke down. It honestly just became a gross chore I had to keep dealing with.

Feel your pain so much. My tumbler turned into a slimy science project last summer. Had the same fly problem, just a buzzing bin of regret. Ended up dumping the whole wet, stinking mess into the green bin anyway. Totally killed my motivation to try again.

Ugh, my compost bin basically became a fly hotel last year. I'm pretty sure the neighbors thought I was running a weird bug farm.
