My compost bin in Denver turned into a raccoon party last night
I woke up to find the lid popped and veggie scraps scattered across my patio, so I spent this morning building a cinderblock fortress around it. Anyone have a better animal-proofing trick that doesn't look like a bunker?

Oh man, that "cinderblock fortress" is a mood. I had the same issue with squirrels. What finally worked for me was bungee cords, the heavy duty kind, criss-crossed over the lid and hooked onto the bin itself. It needs a good yank to open, which seems to confuse them. It's not pretty, but it looks less like a military installation than cinderblocks.

Bungee cords, huh @camerona79? Did they ever chew through them?
