Switched to a poly brush head and got way less soot in my face

Used a wire brush for 5 years and finally tried a poly one on a tight flue in a 1920s house yesterday. Way less dust flying back at me; anyone find poly better for narrow chimneys?

Nah, wire brush is still better for getting real grip on old creosote.

Gotta admit, my wire brush game is weak, I just use a stick.

Same here actually. I used to just grab whatever random branch or stick was lying around and kinda just jab at the gunk. But then a buddy let me borrow his actual wire brush one time and man, the difference was night and day. It just bites into the crud way better without having to press down so hard your arm gets tired.
