That fancy 'truffle' salt I bought online was just colored salt.

Spent $45 on a jar because the pictures looked amazing. Used it on some fries and got zero truffle flavor, just a weird chemical smell. Anyone know a legit supplier for the real stuff?

Ugh, that's the worst. Real truffle salt should punch you in the face with earthy flavor. Sounds like you got the fake stuff with synthetic flavoring.

Oof, that "weird chemical smell" line hits hard. I did the same thing with truffle oil once. Felt like I was seasoning my pasta with the ghost of a tire fire. You almost have to laugh at how easy it is to get tricked by nice packaging. I wish I had a good supplier for you, but I'm still burned from my own fake truffle buy. Maybe we should just start a support group for people who paid fancy salt prices for colored salt.
