Hit my 1000th shift on the line last Thursday and nobody cared
Was doing my usual Thursday prep and realized halfway through the day that I'd been cooking in restaurants for exactly 1000 shifts. I keep a little notebook where I mark every shift. Got started counting back in 2015 when I was a line cook at a place in Phoenix. Figured I'd do some math. 1000 shifts over 9 years means I've been in that kitchen for like 8000 hours easy. And nobody in the place knew or cared. The owner was in the office doing paperwork. Cooks were on their phones. I just stood there staring at my prep list feeling kinda old. Has anyone else hit a random number like that and had it just hit you out of nowhere?

Mark a milestone for yourself like that and celebrate it. Take yourself out for a good meal or buy something you've been eyeing for the kitchen. The industry doesn't hand out gold watches for consistency. You've got to be your own cheerleader in this business.

Absolutely agree, did the same thing after hitting my own 100 posts streak and it felt great.
