Shoutout to my grandma's old melamine bowls for showing me I was pouring way too much milk
I used to fill my bowl almost to the top with milk because that's how my dad did it growing up. Then last month I grabbed one of my grandma's old melamine bowls from the back of the cabinet, the small orange ones that hold maybe a cup and a half. I poured my usual amount out of habit and it nearly spilled over the edge, so I just went with it and finished the cereal. The milk left behind was way more flavorful because it wasn't watered down by extra milk, and I finally got why people in this community care so much about the milk-to-cereal ratio. Now I measure my milk first, usually about 3/4 cup for a normal bowl of flakes. Has anyone else had a smaller bowl totally change how their leftover milk tastes?
The ratio thing is real but it's not really about the bowl size, it's about the total milk to cereal amount. A smaller bowl just forces you to use less milk, but you could get the same result by pouring less into a big bowl lol.
