My cornbread stuck to the pan after I used a new oil for seasoning

I seasoned my 10-inch skillet with avocado oil last weekend, following my usual steps. When I baked cornbread in it yesterday, half the bottom layer ripped off when I flipped it. I think the oil's smoke point was too high for a good polymer layer to form at my oven's 450 degrees. Has anyone else had a seasoning fail with a specific oil?

Yeah, it's like when you try a new thing and it just... doesn't stick.

That "doesn't stick" feeling is the worst. It happens because the initial excitement wears off before a real habit forms. You just gotta push past that first boring part.

Ugh, tell me about it. I bought a whole set of watercolor stuff last year, used it twice, and now it just sits in my closet. How long does that boring part usually last for you?
