Update: That huge office job in Tempe where the pad was totally wrong

Got to the site Monday and the pad they delivered was a cheap rebond, not the 8 pound density we quoted. The whole 5000 square foot space needed a swap, which meant a full day delay. The supplier finally got the right stuff out by Tuesday afternoon, but we had to work two 14 hour days to catch up. Anyone else had a supplier mix-up throw a whole week off like that?

Heard a story on a trade podcast about a similar pad swap mess. They said the key is getting the delay penalty written into the purchase order up front. Makes the supplier think twice before sending the wrong specs.

Ever notice how everything's a penalty box now?

Two 14 hour days back to back is brutal just to fix someone else's mistake. That supplier owes you more than just the right pad after putting your crew through that. A 5000 square foot swap is a massive redo, not a small fix. I hope you're charging them for all the extra labor and the schedule hit. That kind of mix-up shows a real lack of respect for your time and your bid.
