Seam roller broke mid-install on a 2,000 sq ft job yesterday

I was about halfway through a living room in Omaha, using my old seam roller like always, and the handle just snapped clean off. Plastic part gave out, no warning. Had to finish the whole back half by hand with a knee kicker and a block, which took twice as long. So here's the debate - do you trust metal handled seam rollers over plastic, or am I just unlucky? What do you guys use that holds up?

Bet you the plastic failed at the molded stress point where the handle meets the roller head, right? How long did you have that roller before it gave up on you

Man I feel your pain @sage52, that exact spot always goes first on those cheap rollers. What finally worked for me was switching to the ones with metal brackets where the handle meets the roller head, they cost a few bucks more but last way longer. I had a plastic one snap on me after maybe six months of weekend projects, and that was the end of it for me. The metal ones I got have been going strong for over two years now, even with heavier paint jobs. Have you tried the fiberglass handled ones yet, or do you stick with the cheaper stuff hoping for better luck?
