Update: Started keeping a sharpening stone in my apron...

My chisels would drag through the wood... but now they glide like butter.

Oh man, @michael_fisher55, I get that, but for me it's when they're just starting to get dull. I mean, a fresh edge can feel too grabby sometimes. Maybe it's just me but a slightly worn-in tool feels more predictable.
